About the Genevan Psalter
The Genevan Psalter is a collection of tunes for the psalms. The melodies were composed between 1539 and 1562 in Geneva, Switzerland, at the request of John Calvin. As is clear from the list above, texts (metrical psalms) that can be sung to these tunes have been written in many languages.
Some websites about the Genevan Psalter are: The Genevan Psalter Resource Center, Psalmboek.nl (Dutch), and Salmos Metrificados (Spanish). For organ compositions to the tunes of the Genevan Psalter, see this playlist or the project Alle Psalmen (playlist, site) by Sietze de Vries. For other instrumental versions, see this playlist (Ernst Stolz Early Music).
