ETSC Online Library

The Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo (ETSC) provides its students, faculty, and staff with the following library and learning resources. Some of them are also available for others outside the ETSC community.

Digital Libraries

The MENATE Digital Library contains a growing collection of 1100+ Arabic theological books. Access:

  • Students and faculty of ETSC can login to the MENATE library with the email address with which they are registered on Sola (ETSC’s school management system) and a personal password. If they don’t know their password, they can click “Forgot password?” on the login page and receive a new password by email.
  • Others can pay to become a member of the MENATE library.

English books and journals: The Global DTL (Global Digital Theological Library) provides access to tens of thousands of books in the area of Bible, theology, and religion, as well as millions of journal articles. Access: anyone can search in the GlobalDTL, but one needs a ‘barcode‘ (= password) to view/open a book or article:

  • Students and faculty of ETSC can find the barcode on Moodle, under Student Resources.
  • Other schools in lower-income countries can join the Global DTL for a reasonable fee and provide their students and faculty with their own barcode.

The Global DTL is a ‘library of libraries’. With the GlobalDTL barcode, one has access to books and journals that are available on the following platforms:

Bible

STEP Bible and Marble are two websites that make it easy to read the Bible in Hebrew and Greek alongside an Arabic and/or English translation. The Bible can be found in many places on the internet, but these are two of the best:

  • STEP Bible was started as a project of Tyndal House in Cambridge, UK.
  • Marble Bible is a project of the United Bible Societies.
